Beauty, Facial and Skin Care Professional
The modules on all our foundational courses are very similar, e.g. the Remedial Massage. Foot Health and this Facial and Skin Care Professional course. They have been designed like this to give maximum transferability of knowledge and skills in the core subjects e.g. Professional Studies. Anatomy, Physiology and First Aid. We do, however, recognise that for someone wishing to study and enter into just skin care, they may not be interested in Remedial Massage or Foot Health. So this course is designed to cover all core subjects, and emphasise beauty, aesthetics, facial and skin care.
You can still use this course to get onto other courses if you feel that you wish to have a change or upgrade in a different direction.

Syllabus & Entry
This course is designed for the complete beginner, so there are no specific entry requirements.
You will study the three core subjects: Professional Studies (Health, Safety, Security, Infection Control, Law, Ethics, Consent, Business Studies, Administration, Insurance, etc).
You will then study beauty and skin care specific modules: Applied Anatomy and Physiology of the Skin and Dermatology. Skin Cancers. Pharmacology Affecting the Skin. Skin Care Products. Antiaging, Nutrition for Health and Beauty.
Knowledge of advanced beauty and skin care treatments e.g. Laser, IPL, Dermaplaning, Microneedling, Platelet-rich-plasma, Skinpeels, Botox, Dermal fillers. Skin boosters, Lipolysis, Cavitation, Faradic and radio-frequency.
How Long Will it Take?
This depends on the student and their background.
For someone with no background, we estimate that it will take approximately 500 - 600 hours. Of which approximately 100 practical hours will be included.
Some students study full-time, 25 - 30 hours per week, which means they can complete it in about 2 - 3 months. Others may study around work and home commitments and take longer. It is completely flexible. Once enrolled, you will have up to 2 years to complete the course.
Practical tutorials are offered via live Zoom classes or face-to-face at one of our clinics or tutors' home-based practices in Glasgow.

Delivery and Assessment
This course is split into 3 phases. Theory, Practical and Portfolio Development & Submission. The theory and practice are combined from day one to build practical skills.
Theory is delivered and assessed 100% online. Practical and its assessment can also be delivered 100% online. (Some students opt to come to one of our clinics or workshops in Glasgow. It is completely up to them.)
When theory and practice have been completed, a temporary certificate and B.I.A.H.A. registration will be issued (for 12 months).
The provisional graduate can then go into practice or work with clients to finish their portfolios of evidence. Case studies and reflections are included in the portfolio. Once completed, they are submitted to the college to be verified.
Upon verification, a fully accredited qualification is awarded, and full registration with the B.I.A.H.A.
Graduates of this course can undertake almost any other course to advance and extend their scope of professional practice e.g. in Aesthetics. Slimming Treatments. Naturopathy. Naprapathy. Remedial Massage and Sports Therapy. Advanced Cosmetic Electrology. Laser and IPL Skin Care. Foot Health, etc. You're only limited by your imagination........
Your course tutors are highly qualified practitioners with over 30+ years of experience. They hold regulated qualifications in both health and beauty teaching and assessing. Most are published authors of textbooks.
