SCHOLARSHIP
This scholarship is designed to support disadvantaged young people who may not have had the same opportunities as others, but who have the motivation, commitment and potential to build a successful future.
It is named in memory of Jake George, a much-loved pug who embodied so many of the qualities we value in a Naturopath or Naprapath: love, care, energy, curiosity, fun, resilience and a genuine sense of adventure.
The scholarship was created by our tutors, many of whom come from disadvantaged backgrounds themselves and understand what it means to face barriers in education and in life. Those experiences did not define or limit them, and through this scholarship they now want to pay that opportunity forward to the next generation. These qualities are exactly what's needed to develop these professions and take them to the next successful level.
GENERAL CONDITIONS: but not limited to;
Applicants must be between 16 and 21 years of age.
We warmly welcome applicants from all kinds of disadvantaged backgrounds, including students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). We will work with each applicant individually to understand what support they may need and, wherever reasonably possible, provide appropriate help with their education and training. Our aim is to make the programme as accessible as we can, while being open and realistic about the support we are able to provide safely and effectively.We have personally found that there is always a way around obstacles, so don't let anything hold you back.
The scholarship covers the full course fee through all years, so long as the candidate maintains a GPA of at least 60%.
Additional opportunities may arise for further study, research, and employment with the UCHSc.
IS IT THE RIGHT CAREER?
If you are unsure whether Naturopathic or Naprapathic Medicine is the right career choice for you. We understand, because there is so much confusion around the professions and training. We have a strong network and infrastructure in education and our established professional body. We suggest you read through our course descriptions. Other training providers' course descriptions, and research the professions as much as possible, then come and have a chat or shadow one of our practitioners, or join a class for a day or two to get a feel for the UCHSc and what it's like to be a ND or DN. It may just be a stepping stone into other fields, but that's perfectly ok. Many graduates have also gone on to complete other related health care professional courses and become statutorily registered and licensed in other fields, and incorporated Naturopathy and Naprapathy into their practice.
